Event Description

To celebrate the centennial of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial, Chemical Bank and the McKinley Memorial Library are sponsoring a McKinley Art Show Sept. 1-23.

Entry forms and contest rules and details are available at the library, all SCOPE centers and the Eastwood Mall customer service center.  Artwork and entry forms will be accepted the week of Aug. 21.

A gallery opening and awards ceremony will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Art Outreach Gallery in the mall. The ceremony will include musical entertainment by the Richie Wilkins Trio and light refreshments provided by the Friends of the McKinley Memorial Library.

Best in show entries will be on display throughout October at the library.

To help participants prepare for the art contest, the Art Outreach Gallery is offering open studio classes 2 to 4 p.m. Friday,  June 30. Individuals who are entering the contest can attend one or both classes to work on their entry, learn more about McKinley and brainstorm ideas. Registration is required and forms are available at the gallery, the library or www.artoutreach.org.
