81st National Midyear Exhibition

Opening Reception: July 9, 2017 1-3 PM

The 81st National Midyear Exhibition presents works by contemporary artists who reside within the 50 United States or its possessions. Two dimensional works in all media, including digital works and photography are included in this exhibition.

Out of almost 900 works of art by over 300 artists from 26 states , 83 works of art have been selected by 77 artists from 11 states.

This year’s exhibition will by judges by Sean P. McConnor, Professor of Painting, Curator of Art at Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania.

This exhibition will be on view from July 9 – August 20, 2017.

The Historic Preservation Committee of the MVHS Board of Directors is pleased to announce the winners of the 2017 Historic Preservation Awards.  These awards honor those in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties who take an active role in preserving historic buildings, sites, and districts.  Winners of the Community Revitalization Awards are Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica – Youngstown; Lewis House – Poland Preservation Society; St. Patrick Church – Youngstown; and the Commercial Revitalization Award winner is Peter Allen Inn – Kinsman. The winners will be honored at the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s 142nd Annual Meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 20th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, 325 West Federal Street in downtown Youngstown.  The public is invited to attend the dinner, cost is $28 for MVHS members and $32 for guests.Read more…
