Event Description

Join us for a Musical Theater Master Class at BWR with John Scacchetti, Thursday, June 22 from 1:00 – 2:30! $25 per dancer.


John Scacchetti has performed on Broadway in the 2001 Revival of 42nd Street, and the 2008 Revival of Gypsy starring Patti LuPone. National Tour credits include 42nd Street, and My Fair Lady directed by Trevor Nunn and choreographed by Matthew Bourne. Regional credits include Phil Davis in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (Arts Center of Coastal Carolina), Cosmo Brown in Singin’ in the Rain (Gateway Playhouse), George in The Drowsy Chaperone (The Cape Playhouse), Mike in A Chorus Line (Weston Playhouse), Slats in Good News!, and How To Succeed…(Goodspeed Opera House). John was recently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance at Western Carolina University where he reset the Original Broadway Choreography for their production of Gypsy. John holds a BS in theatre performance from Bradley University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Join us for a reading by three visiting poets! Jen Ashburn & Jason Irwin visit us from Pittsburgh, and Roger Craik from Ashtabula. Open mic to follow moderated by Brandon Noel of The Makeshift Poets.

Jen Ashburn is the author of the full-length poetry collection The Light on the Wall (Main Street Rag, 2016), and has work published in Chiron Review, Grey Sparrow, The MacGuffin, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Whiskey Island, and other journals. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Chatham University. Originally from southern Indiana, she spent four years in Japan and greater Asia, and now lives in Pittsburgh.

Roger Craik, Emeritus Professor of English at Kent State University, has written four full-length poetry books: I Simply Stared (2002), Rhinoceros in Clumber Park (2003), The Darkening Green (2004), and most recently, Down Stranger Roads (2014); as well as chapbooks Those Years (2007) (translated into Bulgarian), and Of England Still (2009). His poetry has appeared in several national poetry journals, such as The Formalist, Fulcrum, The Literary Review, The Atlanta Review and The Mississippi Review. He has been a Fulbright Scholar to Bulgaria and Romania.

Jason Irwin is the author of A Blister of Stars (Low Ghost, 2016), Watering the Dead (Pavement Saw Press, 2008), winner of the Transcontinental Poetry Award, and the chapbooks Where You Are (Night Ballet Press, 2014), & Some Days It’s A Love Story (Slipstream Press, 2005). He grew up in Dunkirk, NY, and now lives in Pittsburgh.
