Call for Actors: Warren Ghost Walk

ATTENTION ACTORS!! Auditions for this year’s Ghost Walk will be held August 30th (6-8 p.m.) and September 2nd (1-3 p.m.) at Art On Park, located at 180 N. Park Ave., corner of N. Park and High St. in downtown Warren. For more information regarding auditions, contact Barb @ 330-718-3759. Ghost Walk is a one-mile historic walking tour which begins each night at 6:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave., N.W.  Actors will portray the restless spirits of people who once lived in Trumbull County.

Call for Artists: McKinley Memorial Library Art Show

To celebrate the centennial of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial, Chemical Bank and the McKinley Memorial Library are sponsoring a McKinley Art Show Sept. 1-23. Entry forms and contest rules and details are available at the library, all SCOPE centers and the Eastwood Mall customer service center.  Artwork and entry forms will be accepted the week of Aug. 21. A gallery opening and awards ceremony will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Art Outreach Gallery in the mall. Best in show entries will be on display throughout October at the library.

To help participants prepare for the art contest, the Art Outreach Gallery is offering open studio classes 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 30. Individuals who are entering the contest can attend one or both classes to work on their entry, learn more about McKinley and brainstorm ideas. Call for Gallery Exhibit Submissions

The Thomases Family Endowment of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation Art Gallery is located in the main hall of Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, on the first floor adjacent to the multi-purpose room.  The gallery hosts 6-7 exhibitions per year, highlighting the work of regional artists.  Each exhibition runs for approximately 6 weeks, with an artist reception at the beginning of each show.  At least one exhibition per year focuses on a Jewish cultural connection.

The Thomases Gallery Exhibitions Committee reviews proposals for exhibitions several times per year, and artists are encouraged to apply at any time.  Submission of materials does not constitute automatic acceptance into programming.  The curator and exhibitions committee reserve the right to selection of artists, and their artwork, based on quality and display requirements.

Eligibility is open to artists 18 years or older.  Interested artists should send an artist statement, resume or curriculum vitae, 4 or more images (JPG or PDF), and an image list indicating title, dimensions, medium, and date to kgibbons@jewishyoungstown.org. Posted 6.8.17

We seek a part-time, salaried organist and choir director. Qualifications preferred: Degree in music; Proficient Organ skills; Experience with liturgical worship; Good collaborator. Responsibilities: Coordinate with clergy in planning & preparing of music for liturgies; Provide Organ/Piano prelude & postlude, accompaniment for hymns; Rehearse & direct adult choir Sept-Pentecost; Provide occasional musical opportunities for children to participate in liturgy. Compensation: Starting $13,000/year. Vacation: Four Sundays & Christmas Day. Opportunity to provide private lessons at the church.

Volunteers Needed!

McKinley Memorial Library is seeking volunteers to work at the McKinley Birthplace Home and Research Center as tour guides. Volunteers will lead guided tours of the McKinley Birthplace Home and be expected to answer questions about the life and times of President McKinley.  Training will be provided for all volunteers.
